presents: ABORIGINAL OKIHCIHTAW - YOUNG WARRIOR’S PROGRAM
The University of Manitoba’s Aboriginal Okihcihtaw Young Warrior’s Program is designed for a group of 25 Indigenous men wishing to move into post-secondary studies. The program’s vision is to train men in the physical, mental and spiritual spheres, developing their moral character to produce a high quality leadership. The foundation for this education is a holistic use of the Indigenous and Western world views. This program uses courses from University1 (transferable) offered in a supportive environment building lifelong friendships and a self-supporting sense of community. The long-term objective is success in obtaining a degree and success in the labour market. Courses will be offered in the Exchange District at 75 Albert.
"I believe that all Indigenous men can and should be positive role models and have success in life. This program is the first of its kind which I have confidence will give 25 men the tools to walk in two worlds."
